In some sections, where every instrument's number has to be rolled before it continues, even if only one player is left waiting, probability determines how long this will be. In theory the amount of unwanted rolls could be infinite (though not statistically). Excluding the middle section, this piece exists in 235092492288 different combinations. However, the possible amount of combinations in the middle section alone is much higher than this. The process involves combinations and permutations and must be done before each performance to generate motifs. As the cogs of the piece begin turning by doing this, the piece has effectively started before performance has even began. This can be done an hour before, the month before or in theory centuries before, so it has the potential to be quite a longitudinal piece in being. Once 'began', as the middle section is organized first, but then not used until the end of the second page, this adds an element of disrupting the linear temporality normally enforced upon music as an art form. If it is possible for a random number generator to write a whole piece then there is little point in there being a composer.
